I like that part about genetic blueprints. Murry Hope (who wrote about Paschats, some of it from channelled communications) talked about 'evolutionary streams' - which are aligned with particular species-groups - like felines, or primates, etc. - meaning that 'cats' are spiritually and evolutionarily related to every other type of feline in the galaxy. She did in fact talk about Paschats incarnating into what humans call ordinary domestic cats - and, yes - just as you say, for protective purposes (and companionship, as well as simply learning about humans and this planet).

One interesting philosophical (or metaphysical) aspect of this would be that 'souls' are not actually independent of the physical nature of the lifeform they inhabit - they are tied to their evolutionary stream - thus it's not true that souls can flit between all manner of different creatures (although it does happen sometimes - perhaps to help the individual understand other types of lifeform) - but rather, the soul generally stays within its own evolutionary type (or archetype).

Likewise the idea of 'soul families' - where small groups of souls incarnate together.

I'm a full believer in all of this.
